Predator 3 will be kept from viewers for long. With Alien and Predator technically a part of the Marvel Comics universe already, and with the cinematic multiverse expanding around Doctor Strange 2, it seems unlikely that Alien vs. Marvel dominates screens of every size, as the journeys of new and established heroes continue both in theaters and on the Disney+ streaming platform.
These investments into Alien and Predator continue as Disney progresses into Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the quest to save the Alien and Predator franchises already underway, Alien vs. Paired with the recent announcements of Alien 5 and Prey, the next Predator film, Disney has clearly taken a long-term multi-media interest in these icons. Disney's already printing a new series of Alien under the Marvel brand and has plans to introduce the Predator to their comics universe this July. The success of these properties hasn't been exclusive to film. With the Fox/Disney merger now completed, there's every indication that Disney's proven fondness for big-screen crossovers will see the saga resurrected. Predator's worldwide gross of over $170 million wouldn't be beaten by another Alien or Predator entry until 2012's Prometheus, further highlighting how the power of the Marvel-style crossover is key to both franchise's future. Predator film could topple the acclaim of the critically-adored Aliens, 2004's AVP was still the highest internationally grossing film of either franchise at that point. Kong serve as reminders that a big fight feel will always draw crowds. The "hero versus hero" film Captain America: Civil War and the aforementioned Godzilla vs.
The "versus" formula is tried-and-true, especially when it comes to modern crossovers. With Disney long proven that there is no expense too great in the name of event cinema like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's only a matter of time before properties like Alien and Predator reunite to form the next grand film spectacle.
